Communications Officer (Part-time)

Job Description  

About Musalaha: 

Musalaha, meaning “reconciliation” in Arabic, is a faith-based organization that teaches, trains, and facilitates reconciliation between diverse ethnic, religious, and social groups, drawing on biblical principles and indigenous practices to pursue joint liberation and redemption through nonviolent co-resistance. 

Overarching Objective: 

This position must communicate effectively through a variety of communication platforms our mission and various programs that promote reconciliation. The primary objective is to increase awareness of the political reality in Palestine and Israel, promote Musalaha’s reconciliation efforts through non-violent co-resistance. Following these high-level goals, this position must aim to further intensify our communication efforts in informing, convincing and guiding our diverse target groups and stakeholders. 

Accordingly, the main aspects of this role consist of: 

(1) Inform – Provide information on the conflict, our vision of reconciliation and its relevance locally and globally. (2) Influence – Exemplify the purpose, relevance, and importance of reconciliation for the different target groups and emphasize the importance of non-violent co-resistance on an intra/inter-communal level; to show the importance of a reliable communication infrastructure (website, social media, newsletter, etc.). (3) Guide – Enable & empower peer communicators/change agents; guide communication activities by providing hands-on tools, general support and trainings; support the process of adapting/connecting the mission on a daily level; ensure interfaces of communication with existing and new communication infrastructures and enhance collaboration on a global level. 

Communications Change Tasks: 

▪ Creation and implementation of strategic communication concepts based on target group & stakeholder analysis, communication needs and information level. 

▪ Content planning, management and production for different communication occasions (regular, specific, campaigns) and in diverse categories (news, guidelines, services, engagement, branding, formal and informal exchange). 

▪ Selection and implementation of adequate communication media and channels in virtual, digital and face-to-face communication formats (multi-channel & cross media approach according to the diversity of the target groups). 

▪ Increase recognition, awareness and reputation by branding, corporate design, communication style and reliable communication infrastructure. 

▪ Acting as communication consultant and support for management, team, cooperation partners and other stakeholders regarding communication activities. 

▪ Communication training and consultancy for team members and facilitators. . 

▪ Development and implementation of new methods and tools for workshops, change initiatives and communication measures, if necessary, together with other organizations and locations. 

▪ Enhance collaboration on a global level with partners, extended teams, and other interfaces for aligned consistent communication and strategic messaging.

▪ Identify & build up new cooperation with external partners (e.g. universities, foundations, organizations). 

▪ Measure the impact of the implemented communication activities by quantitative and qualitative surveys for different target groups, evaluation of statistics (webpage and social media channels e.g. numbers of visitors, downloads, click rates, followers, etc.), benchmarking and user experience methods. 

▪ Familiar with and help build communication budget plan based on a communication strategy. 

▪ Assist the Organization Development Manager in donor communication when needed.

▪ Fluent in English, and native speaker of Arabic and/or Hebrew is an advantage 

Requirements: 

▪ University degree in marketing/PR/media/communication sciences or equivalent. 

▪ 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in communication and/or change management, as well as in editorial management of various media channels. 

▪ Work experience in cross-cultural settings and in globally diverse teams. 

▪ Broad repertoire of communication methods and techniques (e.g. social media marketing; story telling). 

▪ Strong communication and convincing appearance. 

▪ Strong analytical and conceptual abilities, self-initiative, enthusiasm, team orientation 

▪ Excellent communicator with strong self-motivation and solution orientation 

▪ High integrity and strong target group orientation
